SELF-INSURANCE BASICS
SHOULD
EVERYONE SELF-INSURE? A self-insurance program is not right for every
business owner. It may be that the
business owner should support and participate in an Industry Business Owners
Self-Insured/Captive Company insurance program. A business owner with fewer than 100
employees should not separately self-insurance. A business owner with combined Liability,
Property, and Workers’ Compensation premiums of less than $500,000, maybe
even $1,000,000, should not consider self-insurance. There are exceptions, and certainly
consulting with a licensed Captive Manager will more specifically answer your
question and identify other possible options. |
